02:47 am: Spring Break
Wow, what a great way to end a pretty damn good Spring Break! 300 turned out to be a great movie! Well sort of if one can bear with the over the top battle scenes (big Grin), hardcore gore and mayhem (even bigger grin!) and lack of dialog besides the cheesy one liners. I was a little disappointed after the movie ended, when I over heard a few people complaining about the movie while I was walking towards the exit of the AMC Theater. I mean lets be real here. It wasn't suppose to be an accurate depiction of the battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. This movie was more fictional work based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller which spawned a comic series and is mainly what this film showcased and accented. Thats all. Nothing more than souped upped, ultraistic point of view.
Anyways, I should probably start from the beginning of my little venture so as to not confuse anyone that may read this entry. My Spring Break started last Sunday at 9 A.M. Eddy, his roommate Micheal, Zach and myself made plans a few days in advance to go tubing down Ichetucknee Lake. We brought the basic essentials for any good tubing adventure which was beer, hard liquor, snacks and of course Mary Jane. There were quite a bit of college kids chillin there as well when we got there, which was totally unexpected seeing that this wasn't your typical Spring Break spot. It was cool though. Met quite a bit of people from other colleges who were pretty much just as chill and laid back as we were. We spent about 5 hours total at Lake Ichetucknee talking about this and that, chillin with some of the other people there and smoking a few. After that we drove back to Tallahassee and we each went back to our respective apartments.
Later that evening we all gathered at Eddy's apartment for a few shots and then proceeded to hit every bar on the strip. After the bars started closing their doors around 2 A.M., we were all a bit hungry and after a little debate everyone agreed upon going to Cracker Barrel for a late night snack. I felt a little bit out of place at Cracker Barrel since Eddy, Micheal and Zach were loud as fuck but our waitress didn't seem to mind. Our waitress was pretty funny and nice despite it being so very late and having to deal with a group of drunk college kids. Anyways after that everyone called it a day and went home. Lol, we should have called it a night much earlier since we were driving to Jacksonville the very next day but whatev.
On Monday after everyone had sobered up, we all met up at Eddy's apartment around 3 P.M and began the 2 hour and 45 minute drive to Jacksonville. There are two steel bridges that you can cross over to get into the various parts of the city which are hella cool looking. Wish I had a digital camera so I could've taken pictures of them. Ah oh well. The first stop that we made when were down there was to see the Dutch Consulate so I could get my passport renewed. Unfortunately they were closed when we got there. I was a little bummed out about this since Mrs. Cindy Collins who is the head of the Dutch Consulate in Jacksonville said that her office would be open until 6:30 P.M. and when we got into Jacksonville and arrived at the Consulate building it was only 5:50 P.M. After that unfortunate mishap, we drove to Eddy's Parents beach house. I have to say Eddy's parents are pretty cool for allowing us to chill there for the our stay. Pretty much didn't do anything that night, but play Rainbow Six: Las Vegas and Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior (GRAW for short) for the Xbox 360 online. The next day we went back to the Dutch Consulate to take care of my stuff. The paper work took less than 15 minutes to complete so right after that we headed down to Jacksonville Beach. I must admit, I didn't realize how much I missed seeing the ocean! The highlight of my day was when I rented a jet ski and skimmed up and down the ocean with that bad boy!!! After the beach we all headed back to Eddy's parents beach house and got ready to hit the bars and clubs. The night life is pretty cool and upbeat and drama free down there which is so different from Tallahassee. On a side note though, there is a large population of homeless people and drug addicts that run amok in Jacksonville. It's quite a depressing site to see...
I left Jacksonville around 10 A.M on Wednesday with Zach to go chill with him and some of his friends and family in Altha Georgia since that was the plan to only spend two days in Jacksonville with Eddy and his roommate Micheal and then to accompany Zach to Altha Georgia. The 6 hour drive to Altha Georgia was pretty cool. Zach and myself were making all sorts of jokes about this and that and we also reminisced about all the fun times we had during our freshman year. When we got to Zach's house no one was home so we just kicked back at his pool house and smoked a few with some of his friends whom he had called over. Later that evening I met Zach's parents which I have say are pretty damn cool! Zach's dad is a riot and his mom behaves like a college kid! For the rest of the evening Zach, his friends and myself played poker and chilled at the pool. Oh lets not forget drinking and smoking some more :-D
On Thursday I went to the Hooka bar and then to an Ale House with Zach and some of his friends. I'm not sure who brought up the idea about driving to Atlanta but I'm sure glad that they did! I was told to dress to impress so I did. When we got to Atlanta which was about an hour drive, we headed on over to a bar called Magic City. Lol, little did I know that it was a Strip Club and supposedly one of the best in Atlanta! Man was my face red when I entered. It was quite a scene....and that's all I did. Nothing but look and stare at the strippers. Now it's not that I have never seen a pretty woman naked before, or been with one, it's just that I have never been to a Strip Club nor have I had any real desire to visit one. It was an experience, and one which I will definitely always remember! After that Debauchery, we went to one of Atlanta's premier Dance Clubs located in Crescent Avenue, aptly named The Sutra Bar. It had an overall sophisticated atmosphere not to mention that the DJ's kicked ass and kept the crowd going. We stayed there until 4 A.M. and then drove to a local Waffle House. While waiting on our order, I saw this kid who had like over 50 piercings in his face. I was aw struck and had to give this kid his props where props are due. He took in my comments and commented me back on my piercings as well which was cool. After chillin there for a bit, we all drove back to Zach's parents house in Altha Georgia. Once there his friends parted ways.
The following morning we were treated to an awesome breakfast courtesy of his mom. A little bit after that we made the trek back to Tallahassee. Ran into a bit of traffic on the way here while we were passing through Crawfordville, due to a fender bender on the road. Once back in Tallahassee, Zach dropped me home and I took a nap. I got a call from him around 4 P.M. He asked if I wanted to go see 300 a bit later, which of course I accepted. We went to the 9:30 viewing. Man was it packed up in there. All in all the movie was good. Could've been better in terms of acting, but all in all not a bad film. After the movie Zach and I went over to Aladdin's Cafe (hooka bar) for a few since we had nothing better to do and since it was about a block and half away from the Tallahassee Mall.
Just got home not to long ago from the hooka bar and decided to write about my spring break. All in all it was a damn good break and can hardly wait for the next one!!! Planning on going to Brothers tomorrow evening and then maybe Baha's. I hope to have one last night of fun before I go back to my mundane and boring school life when classes reopen on Monday.
Viva la France!!!
